A Great Weekend... :)

Friday: Played lazertag with one of my students, had dinner (chinese!) with one of my best friends (JP), finished checking Q1 exams, bought a great new shirt...

Saturday: Highlight of my day was definitely watching Aisaku's Jazz Show with fellow Rylans John Bucu and Meeka Muguerza. I also bumped into classmates from the Center for Arts, and old friends, the Squeezers. :D After that, watched Stardust on HBO with mom and strangely enough enjoyed the film version of Dead or Alive.

Today is shopping day with mom. We were supposed to catch the organic market right beside Ultra, but our driver (no thanks to my late night out yesterday) still hasn't arrived. I guess we'll have to postpone that for another Sunday. On my shopping list would be a birthday dress (because it's fast approaching, yippee!), personal items, and MANILA PAPER. Oh, I am soooo teacher-y.

TEACHER-LIFE UPDATES (because my friend, Argee, requested for it)

I can't believe it's the 2nd Quarter already. I just finished checking Q1 exams and I'm still finalizing my kids' grades--but tomorrow I must have a new lesson already! Gah.

Times like these, I wonder how *my* teachers back in highschool fared. Aside from the occasional breakdown in the middle of a lecture (the classic "hindi niyo ba alam na mahirap magturo?" monologue), my teachers never showed any sign of stress. Or maybe they just never let on.

I was talking to one of my co-teachers the other day and we couldn't help but compare ourselves to the teachers who taught us. I remember Ms. Carpio, my 1st year English teacher. She wasn't really that memorable--all I remember was that she was pretty, and young, softspoken and nice. But I also remember thinking she was boring. I wonder now if that's how my students will perceive me in the future? ...God, I hope not.

Despite the doubts, stress and fears, I actually like my job. Mostly because of a handful of sweet kids that make it worthwhile. I love it when they hug me and tell me their secrets. And I love it when I hear one of them say, "I used to hate English and writing, but now I'm starting to like it..."

OMG, just realized I have student work to do. Lol. I have to finish my powerpoint for my masters class this Wed. Enough blogging for now. Bye

Eagerly awaiting mp3 recording

CFA just informed me that my recording with Egie and Renee will be sent to me over the weekend. I just hope it gets here soon because I'm getting antsy. It's taking forever, honestly.

On other news--The Ople Center's OFW Forum went extremely well. Got a couple of pictures taken with Mar, Chiz, Jamby, and... Lucky Manzano. Hahaha. I know--he's totally out of place and I'm not really a big fan of his. I just wanted to share.

Today is Scarlett's baptism, so I have to go to Laguna. Then after that, MA group work at Makati. And then lesson-plan making. Yahoo! Hurray for lazy Sundays.

Err, that's it for now.

On Feeling Loved... :)

30+ minutes ago, I turned 24. And the outpouring of greetings and well-wishes from family, friends, students and acquaintances is downright overwhelming.

The best birthday greeting I've received so far was from Julian Bautista--one of the newer debaters of De La Salle University. When the clock struck midnight, he told me to visit Wikipedia for the number 24... where he apparently inserted a greeting for me. Of course, it was promptly edited out, but the greeting and the thought and effort that went behind it would be remembered and appreciated for years to come.

I also had people greeting me well before my birthday. The first greeting came from my best-friend-since-grade-2, Camille. She greeted me 3 days in advance because she said she wanted to be first. :p Lol. So many people followed suit that I was worried no one would be left to greet me on my actual birthday! But my fears are unfounded.

First text I received today (Aug. 20, 12 MN exactly) was from Ekai--a long lost grade 7 kabarkada! She greeted me both on FB and via text message. Sobrang nakakatouch! She wasn't the only long-lost friend who greeted... Moon Go did too, even if we haven't seen each other for nearly 2 years.

Point of the matter is... I feel so blessed to have these many people care about me. It is a wonderful gift to feel loved on your birthday. Thank you guys!

Currently feeling: happy :)
