Some updates, la-dee-dah
A friend of mine asked me why I don't blog anymore, and I couldn't come up with a decent answer. It's not like there's nothing blog-worthy in my life... On the contrary, these past few days, weeks, months have been amazing.
Maybe that's why I haven't found time to blog and write. During bad times, or times of heartache and confusion, blogging becomes a necessity--a tool to make sense of the world, an outlet for pent-up anger, a replacement for friends who may be too busy to listen. During good times, however, blogging can seem like a chore (at worst) or a luxury (at best). During good times, one's too busy experiencing life, milking each and every day for all it's worth, that one forgets the benefits of recording it for posterity.
Hence, let me give you all a brief update:
1. I have started my MA classes. I am taking up Marketing Communications at De La Salle University, my alma mater. I am proud and happy to be back.
2. This tuesday, I officially start my work as an English teacher for 1st year High School students. Cool, huh?
I've always wanted to try my hand at teaching, and I couldn't have picked a better school to work for than Reedley. The culture of niceness is so apparent, so embedded, that I daresay it has made me a better person in just one or two months of employment. Can't imagine how I'll be like once the year is over.
It helps that I love the vision of the school, and I am committed to carrying it out. I hope I still feel this way once the students come in... I hope the students and I gel well.
3. My band dreams are put on hold because my guitarist is busy. Sigh, sigh. Still working on some new songs though. A friend of mine who has just gotten a recording contract is asking if I can write him some songs. Oh muse, come inspire me now!
4. Lovelife-wise is pleasantly boring. I still like who I like, but it has not reached obsessive proportions, thank God. I miss him already, but he can wait.
5. Lately I've been having fun shopping for school supplies. How geeky am I??!
Thanks to both old and new friends who gave me one of the best Saturday companies I've had in quite sometime.
Now to get back to work... Would not want to get caught flat-footed by my students!
