Lazer Extreme - My new favorite place

Yesterday, after work, I immediately went home and changed into a comfortable shirt and a pair of nice rubber shoes. I didn't care what I looked like (now that I think about it, my shoes, shirt and pants did not match)-- I just cared about getting to The Fort in time to play Lazer Tag at Lazer Extreme.

I invited two friends who were adventurous like me, and we were able to catch the last game (thanks to Rose and Caloy for their willingness to wait for us). As usual, the room was pitch black, with only the neon lights on your vest and specks of paint on the walls to guide your way. Like my mom in her Professor X entry (check www.susanople.com--she's a better writer than I am), I had trouble remembering what team I belonged to so I started shooting at anybody that moved! But I didn't care--it was fun running around, eluding lasers and trying to hit everyone on sight. :p Unlike my mom though, I didn't have such a cool name this time: I was ugly Golum. Oh well.

I've played 3 games this week and I am pretty sure I'll play 2 more before this week is over. It is *that* fun and addicting, I'm telling you. It's a good work-out too, unless you're wimpy enough to go hide in one corner for the entire 15-minute game.

Tickets are P170 for weekdays and P190 for weekends (including Friday). Lazer Extreme is located at the 4th floor of Market! Market!, beside PC express.

Thanks to Martial (the owner) for giving us bloggers the chance to experience the game for free, to Benj Espina for inviting me (you're awesome hehe. keep the invites coming! Please visit his site at atheista.net), to Blue, BJ, Fritz, and all the other new friends that I made last Sunday at Lazer Extreme and to Cyris and Argee for accompanying me last night after work. Fun, fun, fun.

PS If you're my friend and you're planning to play lazer tag, tara! Hehe. Just tell me when you're free :p Thanks!

I'll be on Jessica Soho! :p

Because I am a diehard fangirl of Rivermaya, I trekked to Rockeoke at Magnet Highstreet after work Monday night and volunteered to sing as their vocalist for one song. :p Of course, I dragged Cyris and Argee with me, hehe (because I just love sharing my strange adventures with my friends) :p

This led to us being filmed for Unang Hirit, although I doubt our video will be shown since there were more TV-worthy singers than us, hehehe. But I did happen to meet Jack, who was from GMA's Jessica Soho reports pala, and she asked me if I could be their "case study" for the next show. I being the clueless, always-game person said yes. I thought it would be one of those short interview things where I tell people how incredibly fun and liberating Rockeoke is (which is true, seriously) and then I'll be part of a bevy of people all saying the same soundbite. :p

But noooo. Apparently, I (along with 2 other friends I dragged haha) will be part of the show's main feature. :p They went to my house and filmed my highschool groupie memorabilia HAHAHA. Oh my God that was so embarassing--I even had photos of Reg Rubio and Queso on my highschool RELIGION journal!

They also asked me to sing one of our original compositions so that they wouldn't have to pay royalty raw, hehehe. I'm sure this part would be cringe-worthy, as Donneil and I haven't really played that song since 2006. O.o

Anyway, point being-- I'll be on TV! And this time not on square-off haha which my family keeps on teasing me about. :p If I tell them about this though, I *am* sure I'll still remain the butt of jokes. But it was a great experience (Thanks Jack! Thanks Donneil and best friend JP for being soooo game) and is definitely one I will not trade.

Have to go to work now! Bye!

Backblogging on BUHAY COKE experience way overdue, but I will get to it. Also on last Saturday's sneak peek of Kel & Jay's performance (don't worry bessie moo, will not spill any secrets). Oh, and first day of graveyard shift! Lots of stories to tell. Toodles!

Enjoying my new job :)

I'm enjoying my new job so much that 8 hours at the office seem to pass by too quickly.

We only have a 4-day work week and lots of flexibility, but I find myself wanting to go to office even when I'm supposed to be off-duty. Or at the very least, I itch to check my work e-mail constantly--waiting for an inquiry, a client's reply or the latest update.

I still don't get a lot of real estate jargon yet, and sample computations still confuse me, but I have a feeling I'll get the hang of it soon, if I work hard enough. It helps that everyone in the office is more than accommodating and generous with what they know. One of our office's top sellers, Sir Alex, has also taken me under his wing. I am a willing and eager student.

This Saturday, I will conduct a site tripping--my first ever! Next week, I am organizing a meeting with some potential referrors from the United States. In between, I work on my current inquiries, which are slowly increasing in number.

I-AM-SO-EXCITED.

Wish me luck!

Lazer Tag with Snooky Serna :p

Awhile ago, I got to play lazertag with Snooky Serna (or "Ate Kooks", as she'd like me to call her) and her daughter, Satchi. We were on the red team against three rambunctious little boys--and obviously, we won (girls rule!).

I ranked #1 (yey!) while mom got bumped up to #3 (she usually ranks second to the last, lol), so we were both happy. Ron, one of the Game Captains, kept on teasing me to have it framed. He's probably just annoyed because I ranked higher than him during yesterday's game (hehehe). And oh, they named one of the vests after me already--if you go there and check, you'll find one called "hunichi" :p

Looking forward to seeing the pictures from the game awhile ago. Kurt took a lot of pictures of us, both in and outside the arena. Will add him on ym so I can keep tabs on how Lazer Extreme's doing.

If you're interested in a game of lazer tag, just let me know. I'd be more than happy to play--we can go up against the Game Captains!

Again, much thanks to Benj Espina (of atheista.net fame) for inviting me to the bloggers event for Lazer Extreme. I wouldn't have known about it otherwise, and now I am addicted!

OTHER NEWS:

* I just had my first actual Mad Science show last Friday. I was only assisting, but I loved the way I looked in our Mad Science labcoat. Wahaha. I'll be doing 1 lead next, next week--on a show about bugs. Ewww. Hehe. But I am *excited*

* Earned a free Sofitel buffet lunch last Friday for submitting the most number of e-mail addresses to our office. :p This month, the prize will be a phone. I hope I win again! Lol.

* I also had my first site tripping for Ayala Land yesterday. I was late (oops), and initially the client (Ms. Tamayo) had some concerns, but we've already resolved most of them. Right now, they're me for available lots (oriented towards the morning sun) and a breakdown of the computation (including a rough estimate of the monthly amortization, if done through bank financing). That means they're seriously considering investing in the property--so do wish me luck (and pray for me!).

That's about it for me! Am meeting the Canadian Ambassador tonight so I have to get ready!

Extremely Tired and Sleep Deprived

This week, our shift is from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. and for some weird reason, I'm still up and typing this entry at 2 a.m. Yesterday was exhausting, to say the least. To give you a vague idea of what my (great) friends and I did--we printed, cut and stuck labels (with my name and contact details on it) onto 350 brochures, put them into 350 Ayala Land goodie bags along with a free Ayala Land tickler notebook and a letter from moi, and then proceeded to track the ACGTAT buses, hunt them down, and place an Ayala Goodie Bag on each seat in 7 buses. That might not sound too tiring for you, but wait until you try it with less than 2 hours of sleep and an empty stomach. :p I'm sure you'd be tired too :p My only consolation is that my boss thinks I did a great job and that my hard work will bear fruit. I think so too. Looking at the profile of the people who attended the ACGTAT---let's just say they have money to invest. Hopefully in Ayala real estate. :p After having been up by 5:00 a.m. to get to the office by 6, and working until around 8 pm (from making client calls, to answering e-mails, to fixing up goodie bags and distributing them)--I got to tag along to my mom's dinner engagement. I was glad I went because I met a really cool couple, about the same age or older than my mom and uncle. They have 2 cute dogs, Poker and Blackjack, and LOTS of food (because they have their own farm). For two people so down to earth, they're also quite accomplished. Tito Jeffrey is a diplomat while Tita Phelicia apparently owns a hotel in Bukit Bintang (Malaysia). Whoa. So it was perfect that I gave them left-over Ayala goodie bags... lol :p The only negative? I got home past 1, and here I am blogging about it. Hehe. So I guess I can't complain. Tito Jeffrey hinted we can go fishing sometime, which I've honestly been meaning to do. I also invited them to Lazer Extreme, because they seem like the adventurous type naman. :p Speaking of Lazer Extreme, I'm absolutely itching to go there. Mostly it's because I love the game but it's also because I love the people there. I had the opportunity to chat with one of their game captains, Kurt, the other night over ym and he's quite the talker. We've decided to go wall-climbing at Market! Market! one of these days and to drag Terz (a.k.a Ron) along with us. I do hope we can drag Choi and Caloy as well, and maybe some of the girls of Lazer Extreme--Ms. Mau and Ms. Rosie. :p I doubt I'd get very far anyway--I'm scared shitless of heights. I also heard that they (Kurt, Caloy) have musical inclinations. Kurt is a guitarist/vocalist/songwriter while Caloy is a drummer/bassist. O diba, pwede na silang mag-two man band. Haha. And they've been bestfriends since childhood too! It doesn't show though. :p Darn, I really want to go play again. But the soonest I can make it is probably on Friday, when I take Ate Nina and her mother for a tripping to Serendra. Besides, I really have to conserve money. Rawr. Anyway I'm sleepy now and I'm probably just talking to myself/thinking out loud, so I'll go right ahead to bed. Bye!

My Day with Dad

My dad and I have never been close.

When I was younger, I refused to stay with him when my mom would be away on work-related trips. I opted to sleep in my grandmother's bed instead.

I dreaded spending time with him--largely because we had nothing (aside from our genes, I guess) in common. He'd always ask me about school, and my grades, and when I'd answer... there'll be a long period of awkward silence and then he'd ask me about school again! It annoyed me to no end.

Today, however, was different. Pleasantly different.

He called me while I was at work to ask if I was available for merienda. Luckily, my shift ends at 2 p.m. so I agreed to meet him in Galleria by 4.

We had merienda/early dinner at Jack's Loft (one of my favorite restaurants everrr), and we proceeded to have a very honest yet light conversation.

He told me he couldn't believe how much I've grown (and I kept on asking him if he meant I grew *larger*, hehe) and we swapped stories about how we both are. It was as if we were on the same plane--y'know, not like a strict father and a meek daughter talking to each other, but like old pals catching up with each other's lives.

He told me about his vertigo, and about his diabetes--and teased me that I'm likely to get them both because it's in my genes. I told him about my new job and how much it excites me, and then he tells me that he misses having a job (as he has been an entrepreneur for the last 8 years). I ask him how business is doing and he tells me that the weather is not conducive for raising fish (he owns fishponds), and I ask if he still loves fishing now that he owns a whole lot of them--and he surprisingly answers no because he now thinks of them as his pets and feels sad whenever he has to give/sell one of them away.

All-in-all, I loved the conversation we had that dinner. It was the first time I felt comfortable with my father, and I found myself thanking the Lord mid-bite, because it has been my new year's resolution for several years now to get to know my dad better. And today might have just been the first step.

What's more, he told me he saw a pink blouse that would look good on me. And while I was skeptical (because I did not trust my dad's fashion sense, hehe) and generally hesitant (I feel guilty receiving gifts from him, again because we are not and never were very close), I accompanied him to the store. And lo and behold, he gets me a really simple pink pique v-neck shirt from Lacoste, which I find adorable and love (and I'll love it even more if I lose a little bit of weight, but that's for another post, hehe).

I looked at the price tag and it's officially the most expensive shirt I've ever owned. Why anyone would pay that price for such a simple shirt is beyond me. But I love it anyway.

And all in all, this was a really wonderful, wonderful day. A day I thought would never come.

And I wish we'd have more days like these, in the future. Like maybe Dad and I could go fishing in Caliraya, one of the more fun memories I had with him when I was a kid. Yep, it would be nice to do that.

Thanks God for answering my prayers. Now onto the next item on my wish-list, hehe. Kidding!

Gil Grissom Leaving CSI?

I read on Yahoo News (http://tv.yahoo.com/show/461/news/urn:newsml:tv.reuters.com:20080718:csi_dc__ER:84264) that Petersen/Gil Grissom will be leaving CSI before the current season ends. That would be strange-- he's actually my favorite CSI-head-of-forensics. The other 2 guys (CSI NY, CSI Miami) are too dry and boring (even though I just figured that CSI Miami's head of forensics was also actually part of the NYPD Blue duo--kaya pala he looked familiar. He also sorta looks like William H. Macy, which makes him more interesting than that CSI NY guy). Anyway.

I don't even know why I care--I used to hate CSI. I hate that they always have quippy lines that no one would say in real life--like, oh, I don't know "where there's vomit, there's bile. where there's bile ...there's DNA." I also hate how easy it is for them to arrive at their conclusions--they almost always find the evidence they need right before the episode ends, and always by using a high-techy gadget with an obscure piece of evidence.

But I've recently become hooked on the show (so much so that I'm actually wishing for an original Wii game of CSI, since all the pirated CSI games I've tried are busted), and it's a sad time to get addicted because my favorite character is leaving. Bleh.

Oh well, I'll live. There's still Crime Night on Discov and ohhh, a disturbing new reality tv game show on Maxxx called "Murder", where they re-create *actual* crime scenes and get normal people to compete in solving the cases. It's pretty bloody and brutal, and the fact that they're based on *actual* killings--it's just chilling.

The good news is that they're replacing Gil Grissom with an interesting new character (yet to be cast) that shares genetic traits with serial killers. So he can swing either way, be a Dexter-like character or something. Interesting.

Getting Excited!

I love my job with Ayala. Hahaha. :p Everyday's just so new and exciting and a chance to book a sale!

Just this morning, one of my friend's moms requested for yet another site trip for Serendra--and this time she's bringing her friends with her! Yebah! Just the thought of another site trip (and for probably the biggest group of people yet) makes me anxious...in a good way!

My mentor at work (who reminds me a lot like Brian--a sales-oriented version of him) told me last night that this is what's important: maintaining a positive attitude. You'll never know when you'll close a deal--but as long as you're covering all your bases, your chances are increasing every day.

I just hope I keep getting better and better. They think I'm doing well for someone new--or that at least I'm trying as hard as I can. And I am! And it doesn't feel like it's a chore at all, because I'm having so much fun and learning along the way.

Who knew work can make me this happy? Hahaha.
