Highlights of Today

In no particular order:

- TL explaining to me what economics was about and why the invisible hand is real (i honestly, honestly have a hard time agreeing with Adam Smith). She even used her forearms (and Robin's) to "illustrate" supply and demand graphs. It brought tears to my eyes and for all the wrong reasons :p

- Ginataang bilo-bilo at LA's house. I haven't tasted ginataan since I was in grade 7, i think!

- Finally, finally catching Sushilo-Bambang-Yudhuyono on line. Chatting with him about everything--from debater-couples to the Rwandan genocide (which was a topic we both agreed later on was too heavy for our taste). Chat proved, however, how different our taste in movies really are. Happy feet--too sappy?! The Interpreter--interesting?! Gaaaah!

- Joking with my mom and Ricci at the office. Mom invented a game where you're forced to choose between two silly options. Here are some snippets of the conversation which I can still remember. Proof of how cool my mom is!

(inside joke)
Mom: O eto Estelle, mahirap 'to. Maging Allen ka, o Richard?
Ricci: Hindi, hindi. Para mas mahirap, maging Allen ka, o Mang Gani! Pili!
Estelle: Teka, ayoko na ata 'tong larong 'to ah.

*sigh* makes me excited to work at their office come next week. :p

- Hearing his voice again. And finding out that he's a bit better, thank goodness. And putting my weird, outlandish worries to rest. A huge sigh of relief and a big giddy smile on my face. Hee. Today was a happy, happy, happy day.

Tomorrow, I get grilled in training. May Lord have mercy. I have yet to polish my speech!

Happiness

Yesterday, I won a P1000 gift certificate for SM department stores (courtesy of the BFOPC annual New Year's raffle); ate a feast of chorizo spaghetti, fake-clubhouse-sandwiches and swiss chocolate; hung-out with friends, old (Cams, Bessy 'Celle, Ricci, Max, Luis, Jay, Jon, Mark, Martin--the man of the hour, Obbie, Abbey, Brucie) and new (Mike, Don, Jigs, among others)--definitely the highlight of my day (thanks you guys).

Today is a bit slower. Woke up extra early to go to the dentist (didn't want to greet the New Year without the long-delayed visit), only to receive a call from him rescheduling to wednesday. So now I'm dressed with nowhere to go and no way to get where I want to go (I was nice and gave Allen the day-off)--so, ta-dah, I decided to do some early work on the Jobs Fair instead.

I was tasked to (a) find companies that rent out booths, (b) contact them and get quotations. And in the span of an hour and 30 (yes, I work that slow. But mostly because I had to find the right google keywords to get the results I wanted, and "booth rentals, philippines" wasn't exactly the best way to go about it. I was also tuned in to BBC, awaiting Saddam's execution, while doing this... distraction. excuses, excuses) I've been able to get 4 companies, 3 of which are accredited by the Philippine World Trade Center and members of PACEOS, so I can't wait to contact them. I will have to, though. I called all 3 companies already and all of them are on vacation until January 2. Bummer.

So now, I find myself bored again, and a bit restless. Usually I'd go and lie down in bed, listen to music and go back to sleep--but somehow it's just not appealing right now. So will go look for company contacts and addresses to bug, possibly for sponsorships.

I'm really happy though. Not about Saddam's execution (somehow, this saddens me a bit, i really don't know why). But. Because. things are moving along. and i accomplished something, however small. and i even got the price quotation for one company and i think it's relatively cheap. and i'm so excited to help out these next coming weeks. and i'm excited to hang-out with martin and robin and max and all my other friends who want to come watch the pyro-olympics with me. and i heard *his* voice today, as he called and he gave me giddy-giddy-text-msg and i'll be saving my jan. 2 for him and if this would be any indication of how my next year would turn out, i'd be a grateful, joyful, cheerful little girl.

Later on, will bug my mom to go to the mall and take advantage of huge, huge sales (70-80% off in some stores!). In the meantime will wait for Brian's text msg to see if idea-discussion-session will continue and how, while listening to bbc in the background and looking for companies to stalk.
