September 13th, 2006

Today, I attend my classes for the first time. (I skipped Monday's on a whim).

FILIPI3 and ARTSCHE, yes. I'm not worried about them at all.

What I am worried about, are my other two subjects. PETEAMS & ROTC. Gah.

Haven't enlisted my PETEAMS subject yet, but I'm contemplating getting the thursday 3 to 5 pm one. That way, I have yet to miss a class. And God forbid, will ever be late for one.

Only trouble is, it's probably going to be Volleyball (the 3 to 5 sched will be held at P7B)--the sport I most detest. They say there's a way of hitting the volleyball so that your forearms don't sting and turn red, but honestly, whichever part of you that ball hits--hurts. bad. I know this because Tyler knows this. and because I spent most of my GS & HS life dodging volleyballs.

I guess if I survived it at St. Paul's, I can put up with it for a term. For the diploma. Ah well. I hope. Or else, it's "Hello Lasalle!" for me again next term.

ROTC is a different matter. Aside from the possibility of fainting again (i don't do well when exposed under the sun for extended periods of time. especially when wearing layers upon layers of heavy, heat-trapping clothing), i'm worried about the 6 a.m. calltime. Hello. Might as well not sleep on Fridays, if they expect me to be in school that early.

My only wish is that it rains most Saturdays, so that we'll be forced to stay indoors.

Or, maski I survive this sem lang. Please Lord please.

This has got to be my worst semester ever. Lordy, lordy.

Another Canadian bags it!

I can't believe how giddy I am that Lukas Rossi won Supernova.

This is despite the fact that I think Supernova's songs are stupid (hey hey hey, ho ho ho?! bad lyrics accompanied by forgettable riffs) and Lukas could've done better as a solo artist. But hey. He wanted to win that thing. :p Suportahan ko sya! Haha.

I guess I feel like I won too. I *have* been texting in votes for him since half the season started. I *have* been defending him from criticisms (mainly from my mom, but yeah. Oh, and I asserted to Sushil that he's way better than Dilana. Wahoo). To have him as the final winner makes all my efforts seem worth it. :p

GO LUKAS!! I probably won't buy Supernova's album, since I'm not a fan of *your* band per se. But I will be watching your previous performances repeatedly (and for free) at youtube. :p And I'll be downloading your Rise Electric songs (which I prefer over Supernova tracks). You're one helluva performer, and I'm proud to have been a part of the Rossi Posse.

My favorite smile

When the tip of your tongue pokes out from in between your teeth, and your eyes become half-moons behind your glasses, I melt. And it makes everything more than worthwhile.

Fear Factor, Wimp Version

Yesterday, I faced a couple of silly, personal fears and survived!! Yey.

First fear was entering class without (a) knowing any of my classmates, (b) late, (c) while the teacher is talking scarily & yelling. Mostly, my fear of awkwardness (which will never go away, methinks). And I had to tap my teacher thrice on the shoulder to get his attention, while my classmates kept on looking at me weirdly. Not only because they didn't know me (freshman block section) and the teacher seemed to be completely oblivious to my presence, but also because I was obviously an upper-classman, having the old-school, baduy p.e. uniform that they phased out. haha. But it's all good. I survived. Whoo.

Second fear conquered (hopefully) was flying volleyballs!! Yey. My arms hurt like hell (and still do, actually) but the prospect of not graduating because of P.E. kept me from giving up and folding (which is what I would've done had I been with my block section, I think. Comfort zone, eh).

Third (minor, minor) fear was meeting up with someone without having an exit strategy. For some weird reason though, I didn't feel like I needed one for this particular person. So I guess, this doesn't really count.

So for my third real fear/anxiety, it was (a) having someone you're not close with yet treat you; (b) eating/drinking while someone's watching. I think it's a combination of the nice person in me feeling guilty, feeling like i'm taking advantage of the other person. and well, the insecure-clumsy-eater/drinker in me, who hates it when people watch me eat/drink because... i might embarass myself. besides, it's awkward. buti sana if they're eating/drinking something too.

Thanks to Charles' insistence and prodding though (and the promise he'd dance revo in public in exchange for overcoming my mental block), I overcame that last fear. Yey.

So one last fear to hurdle. ROTCCCC HERE I COMEEEE! yeah! haha. :p

ROTC day *shudder*

Was up and about by 4:45 a.m. Will be leaving the house in awhile. I'm quite nervous, but I'm confident I'll be able to pull through today. Maybe it's too soon too say, though. So, I'll stop at being optimistic.

Wish me luck!

Typhoon Day

Last night, I couldn't believe my ears when mom and el broke the news that there wouldn't be any classes today. Apparently, a big typhoon was coming up. I wondered how big it could be that PAGASA didn't wait until early morning to announce it.

Today, i find myself agreeing with PAGASA's decision. Grabe ang typhoon. A very sturdy tree in front of our townhouse sala just fell moments ago. So did several other sturdy trees around the block, one of them even landing on (and wrecking) our neighbor's nice, harmless car (yupi yung bubong, and one of the branches spiked through the windshield. Thank God no one was inside).

And here I was, planning (last night) to surprise him. apparently he was planning the same (wee), but d'oh. Who'd be insane enough to want to travel through this weather? It's friggin dangerous! So fun surprises have to be postponed.

I'm happy-happy though. Because mom came home early and we got to bond. Aside from getting her to do coloring-books with me (+ sharing fun, fun convos. including asking her if i had a future ahead of me after graduation. hehe), we also storm-watched.

Mom: Anak (in an excited voice), nuod tayo!
Estelle: Ha? Ng alin? Eh walang kuryente.
Mom: Hindi!! Sa sala, ng bagyo!! It's the best show there is, 'no! It beats national geographic! Tara! (or something to that effect)

So we went downstairs and sat on our car-shaped sofas and bet on which trees would survive the storm.  And she told me that the last time she did this, she was about my age. They still lived in Proj. 6 (Visayas Ave), and she had a good view of her neighbor's roof being blown away, bit-by-bit, by the storm.

It was a guilty pleasure. Emphasis on guilt, but pleasurable nonetheless.

I feel so cruel.

Back to work.
