standing on the shoulder of giants

i personally don't know what the phrase 'standing on the shoulder of giants' means. but it sounds good, and it has been told to me many times, so, there.

i'm happy. the initial excitement and elation has worn off, but i'm still very much filled with glee.

another goal reached. 2 goals, to be exact.

when i started out in debating, i had several goals. most of them have now been achieved.

1. to win a medal - achieved, DLSU-CSB freshers cup 2003.

2. to break in nationals - achieved, NDC 2003

3. to make it past octos - achieved, APSOP semis 2003. JPL semis 2004.

4. to make it past octos in a REAL tournament hehe - achieved NDC 2004

5. to have no score lower than 75 - achieved, UST IVs (now to a real tourney)

6. to break in an international tournament - achieved, WUDC ESL 2004; AUDC 2005.

7. to make it in top 10 best speakers - achieved, LSIVs 2004, UST IVs 2005.

8. to make it in top 5 best speakers - achieved, AUDC 05! :D :D :D

i'm so happy yeyeyey. i have set new goals for myself though, goals that i must strive to reach.

on the non-debating aspect of debate, i've also gotten what i was really hoping for. Debater-friends with friendships that extend outside the realm of debates. People whom you can trust, regardless of competition between institutions. Friends that cross national boundaries.

Shout-outs to Jewellord Nem Singh, my first real local friend-friend in debating. A person i've shared many long walks with, be it in heels around UP ikot or inside SM Northedsa. a;sdfjghdlghs. nakakamiss ka at ang iyong kakulitan.

To Sushil, my first ever international friend-friend. For the great YM conversations and the long gmail emails, as well as your comforting words and hugs after rounds... and your willingness to cheer us on. Thanks thanks thanks you are a rootbeer float amidst generic rootbeer. And I adore rootbeer float, so yeah. hahaha. asd;fkjasdlgh. *bigwarmhugz*

To Arianne and the UPD Contingent, to Aids, Eric Salenga, Yves and UPM. Wah. Much love. I hope we can hang-out even outside tourneys, if schedules permit.

Gems of people can be found in debating and nowhere else. Thanks for the awesome journey in Singapore guys. wow. wow.

Currently listening to: myself talk.
Currently feeling: stupefied

i don't want to...

...sell my guitar.

i just realized what a beauty it is. that, and how long it took me to save for it.

then again, i haven't been using it anyway--i have no band to use it for. that, and my rj still works fine. it's just not as pretty.

i'm going to miss you my epi. wah.
